Community Centre Questionnaire
Dear Resident,
As you may have read in local press, Crest are trying to disclaim their responsibility of providing Bolnore Village with a suitable community centre. It has always been envisioned that Bolnore would be a strong community and would include plenty of community space. The question of what facilities the community requires and how they could be achieved has come up again recently and BVRA with support have developed a questionnaire to canvas residents; through this you can contribute YOUR views and ensure YOUR voice is heard.
After much negotiations, there are 2 relevant sites pending further decisions and discussions with 2 proposed options; at a high level the proposed approach is below. This questionnaire is designed to gather information to answer A and B.
You can EITHER complete the online questionnaire at the following location:
OR,
You can complete the paper version (to be posted through your doors over next few days) and drop your completed questionnaire in the drop box found in Somerfield, Bolnore Village Square.
All questionnaire responses to be collated by 15 August 2009.
Many thanks for your support

18th July 2009 - Travellers on Bolnore
Dear BVRA members,
As you are aware travellers have set up camp on the field directly in front of the Crest marketing barn at the top entrance to the village.
BVRA are working with Peverel, authorities and Police to remove the travellers as quickly as possible.
Due to the law, the land owners (Peverel) must issue a court eviction notice to remove the trespassers. Once issued, bailiffs/Police can enforce the notice and move travellers on. This process is underway and (hopefully I thought) near completion. I spoke with Police again this morning (18th July) and an eviction letter is still with Peverel lawyers!!! We are chasing Peverel harder than ever to get this issued.
In the meantime I urge you to maintain extra vigilance and step up the already fantastic neighbourhood watch we luckily have in the village. If you see anything suspicious then please call the Police non emergency no. 0845 6070 999 (for all emergencies dial 999).
If you witness ANY acts of antisocial behaviour, violence or crime from the travellers, then please immediately report to the Police. Direct evidence of crime will lead to a speedier eviction.
Many thanks for your support.

July 2009 - Bolnore Village Action Plan Open Meeting
Dear All,
Please find attached an agenda for a meeting to be held on Thursday 23rd July at 7pm at Haywards Heath Town Council. The aim is to invite as many people as possible to discuss priorities for Bolnore Village, in particular trying to plan how to resolve the community centre and recreation ground issues. We shall be looking at possible routes to achieve this, including discussing the option of forming a Parish Council. It is important to raise this as an option, but for stakeholders to have an open and frank discussion as to the pros and cons and practicalities.
Could I ask you to invite as many people as you can to this meeting, as we need to raise awareness of any action plan and to include as wide a range of Bolnore residents as possible. We shall also be publicising it at the Bolnore fete. It is an open meeting so no need to confirm attendance as we shall be capturing names on the night.
I look forward to seeing those of you who can attend on the 23rd. Agenda available
here.

May 2009 - Phases 4 & 5 Update
Phase 4a ‘Reserved Matters’ application — currently in limbo
Due to the Credit Crunch, the Phase 4a plan is effectively in limbo at present. Crest are
reconsidering their options, possibly to replace the previous proposal by ‘a little at a time’,
ie sub-sub phases. We are concerned that however the scheme is built, it should be to a
coherent overall plan.
Crest HAVE conceded (in the face of a very strong legal opinion from our barrister) that
the Bridleway Shaw WILL be protected by a 15m buffer. We will insist that new plans incorporate
this to ensure compliance with the Secretary of State’s decision.
Bridleway upgrade delayed again
The bridleway works are yet again delayed—this time without any new date for a start.
Crest have to complete the bridleway works before selling a single house on Phase 4, but
they can start them when they choose. Much as we want them done, given the credit
crunch we are not surprised.
There is one problem—unless they make some sort of start, the application will lapse
soon. To avoid this—and we agree— Crest will do a a short 2 metre road section near the
Thatched Cottage. We support this — we don’t want the application to lapse.
Crest failure to comply with Remedial Measures on Phase 2 & 3
Crest have produced initial proposals for completion of the remedial works to the Buffer
and Wildlife Corridors. The LCOs are discussing them—we are likely to ask for changes to
the detail of some parts of the proposals, particularly regarding woodland soil usage.
Further issues of Bolnore Briefing will follow as more details emerge.

February 2009 - PCSO Update
By working together as part of a community, you have brought to our attention that there have been complaints concerning youths causing
anti social behaviour in your area. This sort of behaviour is not going to go unnoticed or be tolerate and the Police are aware and dealing.
There have been several incidents where youths have tied a hosepipe across the road or thrown objects at vehicles, these actions could have
very serious consequences and anyone caught doing this will be dealt with accordingly.
There has also been a report of youths being abusive to residents which the Police have dealt with in order to hopefully prevent further incidents of this nature.
If you witness any anti-social behaviour it is very important that you report it as and when the incident occurs in order for us to respond appropriately.
When reporting an incident ensure you pass as much information and detail as possible including descriptions and full vehicle registrations, this will help
us with our enquiries.
I would like to thank you for your continued support and if you wish to contact me please do so on 08456070999 extension 22316 or email me at

February 2009 - Coppicing in Catts Wood
MSDC have recently discussed with Friends of Ashenground and Bolnore
Woods the proposals for coppicing of the chestnut in Catts Wood.
Coppicing is the periodic cutting of coppice trees (properly
known as 'stools') which encourages strong regrowth and extends
the life of the tree by encouraging root growth within the
ground. The overall objective is to encourage maximum
biodiversity in the wood, which is best given by varied age
structure and habitats.

Crest Plans for Phase 4a of Bolnore Village
You may recall that the Local Community Organisations (ARROWW, BVRA, FoABW and TARA) fought for and won important changes to the
OUTLINE plans for Phases 4 and 5 of Bolnore Village at the recent Planning Inquiry. This was the first of two steps in the Planning of the site.
Crest have now submitted the first detailed plans to MSDC, for Phase 4a. MSDC are inviting comments. The plans are available at the Council Offices.
Some but not all are on the MSDC website. A decision on them is expected at an MSDC Planning Committee meeting in December.
The LCOs have reviewed the new detailed plans. Unfortunately they still contain serious deficiencies, despite being a great improvement on the
original proposals in 2004, and the LCOs are objecting on three particular points:
1) The 'Construction Management Plan' fails to address key safety issues for residents using the bridleway and village roads, which were part of
an agreement between the LCOs and Crest at the Inquiry.
2) The houses are too close to the woods at the Bridleway Shaw - there should be a minimum buffer of 15m.
3) Crest propose digging up buffers to install drains, contrary to the Inquiry principles.
If you haven't already done so, please WRITE to MSDC to object in parallel with the LCO objections.
